Chinese Typewriting and Chinese Telegraphy

August 26, 2010

Following my trip to London, I was also able to conduct exploratory work at the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the Danish National Archives (in Copenhagen). Building upon what I’d learned about Chinese telegraphy and telegraph codes in the U.K., I was able to dig deeper into the broader history of Chinese character information infrastructure. I wish to express my deep gratitude to Erik Baark, Kurt Jacobsen, and Henning Hansen for helping me navigate the Danish archives, and for letting me view a private collection.
